Fruitlands Museum Wedding, Harvard MA: Sarah and Jonny

– What lead you to have a wedding the way you did? Family, friends location etc?
We first met in high school (although we didn’t start dating until years later), so our relationship has very much been rooted in the area we both call “home.” St. John’s was the church that Sarah grew up attending, so it was very important to her family that the ceremony takes place there. As for location, we knew we wanted an outdoor, space with great views of the beautiful landscape in the area. When we initially visited Fruitlands we instantly fell in love with the layout, the view, all of it. We could instantly see our friends and family at this venue and, of course, we were hopeful for a gorgeous sunset (which we got). Our vision for our wedding day was to have our closest family and friends together for a “backyard” style reception — we wanted everyone feeling relaxed, well-fed, and ready to celebrate!  Fruitlands was perfect for this with that outdoor area for Cocktail Hour where we had giant jenga and cornhole.
– What were you most excited about before the wedding?
Aside from the whole “being with each other forever” aspect of the wedding – which is great and all – but having all of our friends and family together in one place, having a great time. We went to high school with the vast majority of friends that we invited to the wedding. So our wedding also double as a mini high school reunion, which was fantastic. Additionally, the food provided by the catering service at Fruitlands, Fireside Catering, was a big hit.
– Did anything happened that you were’t expecting?
We don’t really think so. I suppose we didn’t really expect to hop in a bright blue BMW halfway through the reception and drive down the road to go to that overlook spot for sunset pictures. Which was great. Other than that, we can’t really think of anything.
– Which images did you love the most?
If we can say “all of them” then we’re going to say “all of them” – each picture was special in its own way. There were some great pictures that captured specific emotional moments such as Sarah’s parents seeing Sarah for the first time, the first look between us, and many more. The sunset pictures came out phenomenally. The pictures taken before guests arrived at the reception look great. Then there were some pictures that, when we scrolled to it during our first pass together, had us both nearly in tears with laughter.
