Spring Misslewood Wedding at Endicott College: Kate and Chris

rainy day Misslewood outdoor ceremony at endicott college

Kate and Chris’ June wedding at Misselwood Estate, hosted on the scenic Endicott College, was one of those days that perfectly captured the beauty of embracing whatever the weather brings. As a Boston wedding photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of unpredictable New England days—but this one was truly special. The gentle rain created such a romantic, cinematic atmosphere, with guests huddled under umbrellas and laughter echoing through the drizzle. Instead of dampening the mood, the weather made the ceremony feel even more intimate and unforgettable.

Here are some thoughts from Kate and Chris:

What led you to decide to celebrate the wedding the way that you did?

The first thing I anchor on is the place where it happened. We thought a lot about the place. The most important thing was our family and friends, so we chose a location that was accessible for most of our loved ones, somewhere close to our shared home communities in Massachusetts – but somewhere that escaped the familiar enough to avoid mundane. The rocks over the water and the majestic sweep of the ocean behind us felt both dramatic and like home, a testament to our love of the outdoors in a simple way, and an embrace to something bigger and more eternal than any words we could come up with. Of the ceremonial choices we made, writing our own vows felt the most important to us. We’re both expressive writers, full of love…and somewhat competitive, so it did become a bit of a game to see who would “win the vows.” in a totally normal, healthy way of course 🙂

Was there anything that surprised you about your wedding?

I was surprised that the sour weather far from ruined the day – it only made the stage a little more dramatic. I was surprised with how truly little time there was, how quickly it all went. Just like that, 2 years of planning unfolded so quickly I barely knew what had happened. I was surprised to not find myself wishing I had ironed out the extra detail or made the slightly nicer purchase for a decoration.

What were some of your favorite images?

So so many of them! I LOVED the pictures of us under the tangle of branches and lights. I love the photo of us looking up at the sky together during the ceremony. The photo of my hugging my dad, the photo of my mom and sister bustling my dress as I held it out, the photos of us on the rocks…I could go on

Any advice for couples going through this process or about to go through the process?

Relax. It’s a big day and it’s fun to plan, but the littlest things (the weather, a rowdy oyster) can upset even the most meticulous of schedules or visions. What’s important is the journey, the steadfastness of your shared love and life, the warm embrace of the people who mean the most who came to bear witness to you finding your person – it’s what brought you to the party that matters, not the party itself.

    •  Also, highly recommend an espresso martini bar.

I’d love to connect with you about your Misslewood wedding.
