Katie and Patrick had a lovey fall wedding at the Acoaxet Club Wedding in Westport, MA. Here is a bit from the couple about their tented outdoor wedding.
What led you to decide to celebrate the wedding the way that you did?
We wanted to be able to celebrate with all of our families and friends, and dance our booties off with everyone.
What was the biggest adjustment from what you originally planned? How were you able to handle it?
The biggest adjustment honestly was the change of date! It was hard to adjust from having our heart set on one date, and then having to pivot to the following year, but we were happy we waited and got to have everyone we loved for our big day. Other than that, we were very fortunate that we were able to switch all of our vendors, and then the added year helped us with more time to figure out the smaller details that we hadn’t figured out yet.
What was the best part of your wedding?
Marrying the love of my life 🙂 I also really loved the flowers! And everything honestly.
Was there anything that surprised you about your wedding?
That no one got COVID! Biggest worry for sure, so thankful no one did!
Also that everyone seemed so genuinely excited to celebrate us. Neither of us have ever enjoyed having attention, or being celebrated, but walking down the aisle with my dad, and catching faces of everyone that I love from all different walks of life and then seeing my best friend waiting for me at the end of the aisle, was really incredible and something I will never forget. Somehow with all the planning, I hadn’t really thought about what that would feel like.Â
What were some of your favorite images?
We love all our portraits that you took!! Honestly every picture though, you did such an incredible job catching so many moments that we were a part of, and also not a part of. I love the facial reactions from speeches/ceremony, the photos of us coming down the aisle as newlyweds and how happy we are (with Pat showing off his ring!), the picture of the groomsmen with the guitars LOL. All of the hug photos, it clearly showed how happy we were to see everyone! Oh also the ones of the flower girls rolling on the hill!
Any advice for couples going through this process or about to go through the process?
Enjoy every moment. I know cliche, but I heard from every married person that the day goes by in a blink of an eye, and I had that in my mind the whole day. We took every moment we could to soak in the day, how we were feeling, and everything around us. It did go by fast, but we enjoyed every moment and we believe that taking time to think about slowing things down really helped!
